Parents in Transition Webinar
On April 13, 2019, the Down Syndrome Association of Central Florida and the law firm of Catherine E. Davey hosted its bi-annual Low Down on Law Day event in Maitland, Florida.
The first presentation by Davey was about guardianship and guardian advocacy with easy-to-understand information for families on how to navigate that legal process after your child turns 18. I followed that with a presentation on "Parents in Transition: Flattening the Learning Curve" filled with non-legal, practical parenting tips and tricks for surviving the transition from childhood to adulthood, especially as it relates to working with this new people and agencies with whom you will be working.
